When Birds Leave their nest…

The hysteria experienced by all parents after their child’s birth is prodigious. There’s no other feeling like holding their tender hands and watching that million dollar smile. The milieu appears more euphoric than ever before. Nothing in the world seems so perfect than those intimate moments.

But is this all short lived..?? What happens when they meet their love and parents take a backseat..?? When a few months old friendship outweighs the blood relationship. When they start living their dreams vicariously and do not hesitate to end their lives, when parents are against the relationship, showing no concern whatsoever for those who have always loved them the most. When their impudent behaviour afflicts everyone.

Is it wrong for the parents to expect something from their children…, or is it wrong for the children to pursue their dreams? Should the parents cede to their child’s yearning and fulfill their demands, as they always do, or is it the child’s turn to repay the debt?

Either of them has to let the rope loose in this tug-of-war. Sacrifice…. It’s worth sacrificing a few things for the happiness of the people who love you. What do You think..??

The Journey...

It’s difficult to console yourself when you realize that someone you yearn for doesn’t ‘reciprocate’ your feelings. But it gets even more difficult once you realize that this ‘someone’ reciprocates someone else’s feelings. And imagine one’s situation when both these facts dawn upon him at the same time. When all your dreams shatter in an eye blink, as if an earthquake has hit your ‘world’, leaving behind nothing but the memories.

The path that one takes to get close to someone is often the most exciting part of the journey. I remember this journey as the most beautiful thing ever happened. Though it was a short one, it took me very long to actually start it. It had all the ingredients of being the most memorable one. But when I was close to my destination (or so I thought), I realized that the destination was never mine. I was in the wrong lane, waiting for the right thing to happen. And there I was, in the middle of the road with no other choice left, but to turn back.

Most of us go through such similar circumstances. Some break down. Some take extreme steps. A few are least concerned, as for them it’s just another route. And most of them take a parallel path called ‘Friendship’. This is when we realize that this parallel path is the path which is more beautiful than the one we wanted. Well, really is that so..??? Or are we just trying to cloak our feelings?

“Here I am, on the road again”…..but this time on a broader road called Life…which has this captivating network of small 'single lane' roads leading us to “OUR” destination. But I have no thoughts of taking the same route. Where to turn is now my choice. The road is long enough to have one junction for each one of us. At present I’m jittery about taking any turn. Admiring the pulchritude of those which I come across and moving ahead . Coz I’m not sure, whether they are alluring or just tantalizing me. Let’s play the waiting game….

Had ‘that’ destination been mine the present journey would have been different. Everyone has the right to choose. The difference is, some get to exercise this right more often than others. That’s the most fascinating thing about this journey... Every time a choice is made, it changes and that changes everything else. And the journey no longer remains the same.
